چکیده

PurposeBody mass index (BMI) is a predictor of mortality in adult heart transplant (HTx) patients. However, the impact BMI pediatric HTx unclear and many programs consider obesity contraindication to transplantation. This study examines effect on patients.MethodsUsing United Network for Organ Sharing database, recipients between ages 2 18 years from 1988-2021 were identified. Patients classified as underweight (BMI <5th percentile), normal weight (5-85th), overweight (86-95th), obese (<95th). Variables associated with survival identified used propensity score matching.ResultsA total 7,487 patients included prior matching, which 58% (4,314/7,487) had BMI, 19% (1,396/7,487) underweight, 11% (851/7,487) overweight, 12% (926/7,487) obese. Median age was 12 (IQR 6 - 15). There differences patient characteristics.
